What's In The Box
Jura ENA 4 superautomatic espresso machine, Scoop, Machine cleaner tablets, Water filter (CLEARYL Smart Mini), Filter installation tool, Power cord. Note: The ENA 4 does not include a milk system — it brews black coffee and espresso specialties only. The cylindrical water tank is located on the side of the machine.

Setup & First Use

The ENA 4 is Jura's most compact superautomatic — only 9.4 inches wide. Place on a level surface. The cylindrical, faceted water tank is located on the right side of the machine and holds 37oz (1.1L). Fill from the top. Plug in and press the On/Off button.

On first use, set water hardness and language. Install the CLEARYL Smart Mini filter cartridge into the water tank using the included filter tool. The ENA 4 uses the Smart Mini — a smaller filter sized for its compact tank; do not use the full-size Smart+ filter.

Fill the 4.4oz (125g) bean hopper. The ENA 4's smaller hopper holds less than the E-series machines — top up more frequently. The Professional Aroma Grinder is adjustable via the dial inside the hopper; start at setting 4.

The ENA 4 brews 5 specialties: espresso, ristretto, coffee, lungo, and hot water. No milk drinks are available. Double drinks are brewed by pressing the recipe button twice.

Compact Workflow

The ENA 4's minimal front face has 5 dedicated buttons — one per specialty. Each button can be held while brewing to adjust volume on the fly and save it. The grind strength is also adjustable (5 levels). Despite its small size, the ENA 4 uses the full Jura P.E.P. brewing system.

Bypass Doser

A powder chute on top accepts pre-ground coffee for a single serving — useful for decaf without emptying the hopper. Open the chute, add one dose, and brew. Close the chute when not in use.

WiFi Connect Compatibility

The ENA 4 is WiFi-ready via the optional Jura WiFi Connect adapter (sold separately), which plugs into the service socket and enables control via the Jura J.O.E. app. The app lets you start drinks remotely, adjust recipes, and receive maintenance alerts.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily / On Prompt

The ENA 4 automatically rinses at startup and shutdown. Empty the small drip tray and grounds container when prompted. The compact size means these fill faster than larger Jura machines.

Weekly

Run a cleaning tablet cycle when prompted. Empty and wash drip tray and grounds container. Rinse the water tank.

Filter and Descaling

Replace the CLEARYL Smart Mini filter when prompted. Use Jura descaling tablets when prompted — the filter helps postpone descaling. The machine tracks usage automatically.

Troubleshooting

Shots Running Fast or Slow

Adjust grinder inside hopper while running, one click at a time. The ENA 4's smaller brew chamber is sensitive to grind setting — small adjustments have noticeable effects.

Grounds Container Full Quickly

The ENA 4's grounds container is smaller by design to match the compact footprint — it holds approximately 10 pucks. Empty it whenever prompted, before it overfills.

Machine Won't Power On

Check that the power cord is fully connected. The Zero-Energy Switch on the back disconnects mains power — ensure it is in the on position.
