What's In The Box
Philips 3300 superautomatic espresso machine, Panarello steam wand attachment (pre-installed), Power cord. Note: No LatteGo milk carafe included — milk frothing uses the manual panarello steam wand. AquaClean filter sold separately at seattlecoffeegear.com.

Setup & First Use

Place the Philips 3300 on a level surface. Fill the 1.8L water tank (front-loading) with fresh cold water. Fill the 250g bean hopper. Plug in and follow the first-use display prompts: set language, water hardness, and optionally install an AquaClean filter (sold separately).

The 3300 (without LatteGo) uses a panarello-style steam wand for milk frothing — milk preparation is manual, not automatic. You control the wand to steam and froth your milk. The machine offers 5 programmable drink recipes via the color touch panel: espresso, ristretto, coffee, lungo, and hot water.

The ceramic grinder is adjustable in 12 steps via the dial inside the bean hopper. Start at step 6 and adjust to taste. The bypass powder chute allows pre-ground coffee for a single serving.

Tutorials & Training

Manual Milk Frothing with Panarello

Fill a stainless steel pitcher with cold milk (approximately 4oz for a cappuccino). Submerge the panarello wand tip just below the milk surface. Activate steam. The panarello wand aerates and heats milk simultaneously — move the pitcher down slightly as milk expands. Target milk temperature: 140–150°F (60–65°C). Do not overheat — milk above 160°F loses sweetness.

5 Drink Recipes

Espresso, ristretto, coffee, lungo, and hot water are each assigned a dedicated button. Customize each recipe's strength (5 levels) and volume by holding the button while brewing and releasing at your desired volume. The machine saves your settings.

Grind Adjustment

Adjust the ceramic grinder by rotating the dial inside the bean hopper while the grinder is running. Only adjust one step at a time. Finer grind (lower number) produces slower extraction and more body; coarser (higher number) is faster.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily — Coffee Circuit

The 3300 automatically rinses at startup and shutdown. Empty the drip tray and grounds container when prompted on the display. Always rinse promptly — overfull grounds containers cause errors.

Daily — Steam Wand

Wipe the panarello wand with a damp cloth immediately after steaming milk — dried milk is difficult to remove. Purge steam through the wand briefly after each milk session to clear the nozzle.

AquaClean Filter

Install an AquaClean filter in the water tank when prompted. The filter tracks usage via the machine's counter — with the filter installed you can brew up to 5,000 cups without descaling. Replace the filter approximately every 3 months or when the machine prompts you.

Descaling

If you are not using the AquaClean filter, descale when the machine prompts using Philips Saeco descaler tablets. With the filter, descaling may never be needed under normal use. Follow all on-screen instructions during descaling — the process takes approximately 30 minutes.

Brew Group

Remove and rinse the brew group under warm water weekly (for high-use machines) or monthly. The brew group slides out from the left side of the machine. Rinse only — do not use soap on the brew group. Reinstall when still damp.

Troubleshooting

Weak Espresso / No Crema

Grind is too coarse or dose is too low. Adjust the grinder one step finer (if the machine allows grind adjustment). Also check bean freshness — stale beans produce less crema.

Machine Not Brewing / Error

Check water tank level, bean supply, and grounds container. Ensure the brew group is properly installed. Most error messages are solved by checking these three items and restarting the machine.

Grounds Container Prompt Too Frequent

The grounds container counts pucks rather than measuring weight. If you're using very fine grounds or double shots, it fills faster. Empty when prompted — waiting causes overflow errors.

AquaClean Not Registering

Ensure the AquaClean filter is fully seated in the water tank and the machine has run a full rinse cycle after installation. The machine must detect the filter before it starts tracking.
